The Fluorescence Portraits are a project exploring the physical and mental-affective properties of fluorescent lighting on live subjects. Each subject is brought into a darkened room and confronted with a fluorescent lightsource. As they gaze into the tube over a period of several minutes, a progression occurs that shifts the subject's gaze from energized to bleak, zombie-like, and alienating.
These images are selected from a pool of approximately 40 subjects. I am currently working on new projects in this vein that focus around the idea of Light as an Aggressor.
